Kings of Leon
Stemming from America’s deep south, Kings of Leon are a rock band consisting of brothers Caleb Followill (lead vocals,
lead guitar), Nathan Followill (drums, backing vocals) Jared Followill (bass, backing vocals) and their cousin Matthew Followill (lead guitar, backing vocals). The Kings released their debut album, “Youth and Young Manhood”, in 2003. The album received mainly positive reviews and shot the Kings of Leon to stardom in Europe, particularly the UK and Ireland. Two more albums followed, “Aha Shake Heartbreak” (2004) and “Because of the Times” (2007) before the Kings received the admiration they claimed and deserved in their homeland. “Only by the Night” was released in 2008 to great acclaim just after a headlining slot at the historic Glastonbury music festival. The album reached the top spot both sides of the Atlantic, rocketing the Kings to global stardom. The album also earned the boys a Grammy award for hit single“Use Somebody”. Some die-hard fans resented the more mainstream sound of the new album. 2009 saw Kings of Leon release their fifth album to date, “Come Around Sundown”. The album topped charts in the USA and Europe and has received mixed to positive reviews.
Kings of Leon are set to play a historic date at Slane Castle on 28th May.
